The thymia team is comprised of highly qualified professionals who bring an exceptional blend of academic excellence, clinical experience and specialised skills to our app development process. Our team members hold advanced degrees, including PhDs in fields such as Neuroscience, Theoretical Physics and Computational Neuroscience. They have extensive experience in digital health diagnostics, psychology and psychiatry.
At the core of thymia is Dr Emilia Molimpakis, our Co-Founder and CEO. Emilia is the driving force behind thymia, bringing her vision of advancing mental health care to life. With a PhD and post-doctoral research from UCL in Linguistics, Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology, Emilia is a leading expert in her field. Recognised as one of the top scientists for mental health worldwide, she has won Innovate UK’s Young Innovators Award 2020-21, delivered a TED Talk, and been featured in numerous podcasts, articles and conferences. Emilia's work places her among a select few globally who specialise in this niche area of mental health technology.
Dr Nicholas Cummins, our Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), exemplifies thymia's blend of expertise. Dr Cummins is a Lecturer in AI for Speech Analysis for Health at the Department of Biostatistics and Health Informatics at King’s College London. His research focuses on translating speech processing into clinical research and practice, particularly for mental health disorders. Dr Cummins has co-authored over 200 conference and journal papers, leading to over 6,700 citations (h-index: 43). He is a frequent reviewer for IEEE, ACM, and ISCA journals and conferences and serves on programme and organisational committees. He is also an associate editor of the Computer, Speech, and Language journal.
